National Defense Authorization Act Includes Critical Review

The Campaign for Fairer Gambling (CFG) today commended Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for championing the inclusion of a study on problem gambling’s impact on service members in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“Mounting reports of problem gambling in the U.S. military created the urgency for this timely review,” said CFG founder and funder Derek Webb. “We appreciate Senator Warren’s dedication to improving the wellbeing of America’s military personnel and look forward to working with lawmakers to protect and support servicemembers.”

The NDAA was signed by President Biden on December 22. This crucial study, due later this year, will explore problem gambling, its treatment, support systems, as well as its connection to other challenges like substance abuse and financial hardship.

The Campaign for Fairer Gambling is an organization dedicated to mitigating the harmful impacts of gambling.
